Online Therapy
I offer online therapy for EMDR and counselling. Many people find that this is convenient, especially for those who have busy schedules, and other commitments. It also takes the stress out of travelling to and from appointments. You have the benefit of making yourself cosy in your favourite chair from the comfort of your own home.
To get the best experience please make sure that your laptop is charged, and you have a quiet room, where you can talk without being disturbed.
EMDR Therapy
You may find that you have been experiencing flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts. Or it may be the opposite where you feel numb and disconnected from people around you.
It’s common to feel lighter and less weighed down after going through EMDR. The problem that brought you to therapy often feels less significant, and old triggers won’t have their usual effect. You’ll most likely find that you are no longer so scared or anxious about the memories that once bothered you.
EMDR is a recommended treatment for PTSD by The World Health Organisation and NICE Guidelines who advise the NHS.
I qualified as an EMDR therapist in 2020, and my training was accredited by EMDR Europe.
Domestic Abuse Recovery
When trust is compromised and abuse has occurred, it can leave something broken inside of us. We are left feeling hurt, confused, and betrayed. Not only do we lose the relationship we had hoped for, but we lose part of ourselves.
Recovery can involve themes such as:
- Understanding how domestic abuse impacts our mental health
- Gaining an awareness of safe and unsafe relationships
- Having compassion for why it was so hard for you to leave
- Freeing yourself from self-criticism and self-blame
- Learning about boundaries, what they are, and how to set them
- Developing inner confidence, to be able to make independent decisions
- Process painful memories so you can live without the terror
- Regaining your self-esteem
- Learn to make healthy connections to reduce the sense of isolation
- Grieve the loss of the relationship you had hoped for
- Work towards creating a future of peace and freedom
